The shipping industry is transporting 90% of the world's trade. The world economy would collapse and would be impossible to transport the vast quantities of food, raw materials and manufactured products without shipping. There are 62,000 merchant ships that generate an estimated annual income over US $ 380 billion in freight rates within the global economy as per UNCTAD-UNO report whereas total turnover of the world maritime & shipping industry (including merchant ship, shipbuilding, ship breaking, ship repair etc.) is about US$ 1600 billion. Isn't it much more higher & bigger than ICT industry?
